You may own every ring from Middle-earth but your craze for The Lord of the Rings is nothing compared to that of Akhil Suhas – a 21-year-old photographer who travelled far and wide to witness the magical New Zealand — as #GandalfTheGuide.

Suhas, a student of the University of Auckland travelled 9,300 miles to visit various locations where the fantasy trilogy was set.

As he toured the stunning locations, he realised that the best way to stand out from the expansive landscapes would be to have a person in the photo — and who better to show New Zealand than Gandalf himself?

"I wanted a recurring subject in my photos and with so many photographers visiting the country, I figured that I needed to do something to set me apart. I started meeting people along the way and asked them if they wanted to put on the outfit, they gladly said yes." Suhas explained in an interview with Lonely Planet.

Suhas travelled 15,000 kilometres over six months and captured some jaw-dropping panoramic shots of the country including that of The Redwood Forest, Te Paki dunes and Hokitika River.

He considers his shot of Pouakai Tarns' perfect reflection at sunset as his best work.
