Airlines around the world might not like this but there’s a new jacket in town that lets you carry up to 15 kg of luggage.

The Airport Jacket claims to get you out of paying for excess baggage and long queues because it comes with 14 deep pockets that can store anything. When worn at full-length (it's available in three styles), it lets you carry approximately 2 laptops, 2 pairs of shoes, 5 t-shirts, a pair of jeans, a jumper and a camera — basically everything you will need for a short trip.

According to the jacket designer, Claire Murphy, "As long as you stick within guidelines around what type of luggage you can take on board, there is not an issue. This has been a practical idea designed for all the low-fare economy travellers who pile on clothes and stuff in as many gadgets and items in their pockets as possible to minimise excess baggage costs. With airlines beginning to charge for overhead carry-on baggage and other low-fare airlines severely restricting baggage allowances for the low fare economy traveller, we feel this is a stylish solution for frustrated travellers who cannot pay for all the additional costs. The experience of travelling with an Airport Jacket has saved us a lot of money."

Before you get your hopes high – here are some of the downsides.

While the idea certainly deserves points for ingenuity – it’s fraught with troubles.

To start with, there is a reason airlines have a limit on hand carry luggage. If it was this easy, people would be tripping over each other’s wearable blankets all the time.

Second, imagine the suspicion you would raise for carrying loads of stuff around at the airport – the security will probably arrest you for this. And if somehow you escape unscathed from the suspicious eyes – how in the world will you walk comfortably while wearing 15kg?

If you think you can overcome all these glitches then head to Kickstarter — the Airport Jacket can be yours for £183 (about AED 841)
