You can’t put a price on a good night’s sleep – except when you’re in Dubai, where you can put a price on pretty much ANYTHING and make it worth a million dollars. In fact, one businessman is doing exactly that.

Dutch Physical Therapist, Thijs van der Hilst, spent 15 years perfecting the algorithm to create just the right size and shape of a pillow for his deep-pocketed clients. His 'Tailormade Pillow' claims to treat insomnia and fight all your sleeping woes.

Now, don’t scoff at the claims yet – save some for the price.

This extravagant poof comes at a bank-breaking cost of $56,995 (approx AED 210,000). And it will be on display at INDEX design series at the Dubai World Trade Center from May 22-25, 2017.

What makes it SO expensive?

Gold, of course, and complex research.

Hilst's algorithm first requires a 3D scan of the client's head. Robots then use the patented technology to detect the shape — carving out a form based on his/her size and sleep patterns.

The pillow is hand-stitched using Egyptian cotton and a splash of 24 carat gold. It's then moulded out of non-toxic Dutch memory foam to the sleeper's head, neck and shoulders.

Plush and shiny golden fabric covers this sleep-aid from both the sides. As for the prerequisite dose of embellishments, the zipper comes studded with no less than four diamonds and a huge 22.5 carat sapphire.

And just in case you have the money (and the heart) to splurge on this beauty, you can carry the pillow anywhere you want in the custom-made Louis Vuitton case that it comes with.
