His Girlfriend Accidentally Threw The $4,000 Ring He Was Going To Propose With

You know how they say things happen for a reason? Well, that statement couldn't ring truer when it comes to Dale Sharp, 34, and Karlie Russell, 29. They are both photographers and have been in love for the past seven years.

Two years into their relationship, Dale knew that Karlie was the one for him and wanted to propose. He bought a beautiful ring worth $4,000 just before their trip to Iceland 9 months ago and hid it in a bottle of moisturiser. When Karlie learned that their bag was overweight, she trashed the moisturiser not knowing that it had her engagement ring in it! Dale spent the next few weeks anxiously looking for the ring and did not mention it to Karlie until much later.

“I didn’t know until weeks after when we were in Iceland and I was looking everywhere for the ring,” Sharpe told the Daily Mail Australia. “I asked her where the moisturiser was, and she told me she threw it out in the airport.” OUCH

After the first failed attempt, Dale (poor guy!) saved up from scratch to buy a new ring to propose to Karlie during their trip to the Arctic Circle for their seven year anniversary. The couple had already visited the Artic Circle 30 times before, but to Dale, the lights had never looked more beautiful; he got down on one knee right there and then.

“I tricked Karlie into believing we were shooting a selfie & used a torch to light us up for the image. Much to her shock, it wasn’t any normal selfie, and much to my shock, she said yes!” he wrote in an Instagram caption. #Aww!
